I’M TALKING ABOUT POLITICS
August 27, 2008At the Democratic convention, Michelle Obama mentioned that her husband’s goal was to transform our nation into the way “it should be”. Unfortunately, we live in a world where idealism doesn’t work all that well. Communism, for example, is a pretty big failure. In communism everyone gets a bit of everything. It provides for a balanced society, yet that level of balance doesn’t work. People lose motivation, are unsatisfied, and are just innately corrupt. Government needs a healthy balance of pragmatism and idealism. Ideally the government would provide for everyone; everyone would get health care cheaper by paying taxes instead of bills. That would happen without a loss of quality. The government would give us money when we don’t feel like getting jobs. Ideally we wouldn’t have to earn our money at all. Yet, if we look to the constitution and our founding fathers, it’s not the government’s job to provide for its people. Its job is to defend us and our rights. Education, health care, jobs, those are our and private associations jobs. Democrats too often fail to acknowledge the reality of life, getting caught up in ideals. This isn’t to say that all Republicans > Democrats and all Democrats < Republicans, but the direction the Democratic party is headed reeks of idealistic change that will push us further into debt, probably not even come about because of a crooked senate, and result in a misuse of government. Anytime the government becomes over involved the process becomes slower and poorer. America needs work and Obama’s pulling in the wrong direction. Yes the war sucks and McCain is pretty fucking old, but he atleast acknowledges the world we live in.
