Horace Grant?
July 19, 2008So tomorrow is the “Horace Grant Music Festival” in my small town. Some funny guy is moving to Chicago in a few weeks so he’s hosting a joke-festival to commemorate his time here. This awful band I was in a few years back called No Side Projects is supposed to play their final (second) show, without any rehearsal in two years. We had about four songs and I probably remember 25% of any of them. Then the band I’m currently in (So Joe Could Party) will be playing; the band hasn’t rehearsed in a few weeks so apparently we’re playing “Animals” by Nickelback, “Hash Pipe” by Weezer, “Reptar King of the Ozone” by Devil Wears Prada, and “The Beast and the Harlot” by Avenged Sevenfold because the other band members played these before I joined. Needless to say, I’m not all that psyched about the gig tomorrow because I have a thing called self-respect and not only will the concert likely bomb, I’m not proud playing any of those songs. Anyway, I’ll do it for my friends but it’s pretty frustrating.
Sorry about the back to back shitty blog entries. I’ve been too busy playing Everwars, listening to Glassjaw, going to the local county fair, dreaming of Bumbershoot (which may fucking happen) and Sigur Ros, and brushing my teeth to write a review or think of anything creative. I’m also thinking about college and have narrowed my choices to to Eastman School of Music, Berklee School of Music, and NYU.
