Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
I’ve heard from lots of people that where Modest Mouse really rocks is back on Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon and Antarctica, but I happen to really dig Good News… and We Were Dead… Both albums are really solid and at the same time have standout tracks that kick major ass. Johnny Marr’s presence on We Were Dead is evident, but in a good not-overpowering way. It’s not a very deep album but it delivers on a fun level.
No Use For A Name – The Feel Good Record of the Year
Almost. Goddamn, I was writing this album off as major failure but then “Yours to Destroy” kicked in. There is some really epic stuff on here, and with the happy pop-punk feel cruising it’s pretty fine. This is probably at best an average to good album, but I’m really enjoying it today.
